Pretend

I pretend to be smart,
until the day I don't have to pretend.

We are taught to pretend,
pretend to smile in front of friends, so that they do not see our emotions.
pretend to laugh at jokes, so that they do not feel lonely.
pretend to be sad, so that they feel someone is sharing the same feeling.

Parents pretend to look wise, so that kids believe in their words.
Teachers pretend to be strict, so that students are afraid of them.
Policemen pretend to be strong, so that the people feel safe.
Even Superman pretends to be mighty, while the actors suffered quite a fragile life.

Do you want to stop pretending? Taking off your mask?
You don't have a mask to start with.
When we learn to pretend, we are actors.
Acting in this big big world like a stage.
We act into ourselves. We are actors.
If actors stop acting, we have nothing to do.
Actors don't have a so-called true self.

Tired? Change your role. That shall keep you fresh and good.
