Yesterday it was a new experience for me to encounter the brain training device. We are at one of the FCGHD labs, and the particular device which I played with was measuring the brain α/β waves. The game was simple, that I will be using a joystick to control the movement of my fish, and then I will be releasing brain waves which is detected on cables attached on my head to shoot bubbles on the incoming ants (enemies).
At first it was kinda hard, I was only told to "concentrate". Well, frankly I didn't realize how the bubbles come up. I tried yelling in my heart, shouting "shoot!", "Bubbles!", "****!", and all sorts of terms, but to no avail. Then I let my team member to control the joystick. Surprisingly the performance was much better compared to me controlling it. I tried several times, me controlling and her controlling. The result is quite apparent that there is a considerable margin of difference (improvement) when my hands are free. We theorized that it was because I have less distractions and can concentrate better.
Then I got all tired and closed my eyes for the entire round (there were 10 rounds altogether). ... It was out of our expectation! That particular round was the highest scoring round, which the score was significantly more than any other rounds. We couldn't help but forming various reasons to the phenomenon. And alas, we were told that the game is to test α waves... where common understanding is that α waves are related to relaxation! There you go!
Today, after a discussion session with my team member on the upcoming project, I managed to have a quick chat with two beautiful ladies in UNIMAS which happens to be on the same table in the library lounge. Wow! Didn't realize they're from Kedah! What an irony! That's because both my team member and I are UUM alumni, and then here they are, like a student exchange program. We exchanged a few experiences, and it was quite a day. Beautiful strangers, try the Sarawak-Brunei-Sabah trip. You'll be amazed.
